We get a lot of questions about how Sycamore & Amaranth got its name, and we're here to tell all! Sycamore is the name of the street Whitney (our designer and CEO) grew up on, so it invokes a sense of home for her. Sycamore trees are also symbolic of femininity, and were considered sacred in ancient Egypt as well as biblically. Amaranth is also a botanical beauty. It is a grain that varies in color from fuschia (as seen above) to tan or green. It is also the name of a mythical flower that never fades, and a symbol of everlasting youth. Stone of the Week: Labradorite

Labradorite is a grey stone with a mystical green-blue shimmer. Inuit lore claims it originally fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis. According to science, it's part of the Feldspar family and its glow is because of the way the layers of minerals refract light. This type of iridescence is so unique, it is called labradorism, and this quality is so unusual we can't help but dream it really does encapsulate the northern lights. Mystics have attributed many meanings to labradorite, from visions and healing to awaking one's inner magical powers.
