Can you believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday?! I️ sure can’t- the end of 2017 is really flying by. It’s such a good reminder to stop and enjoy the moment. It’s always gone before you know it!
If you’re like me, you know how much special events can sneak up, leaving us feeling under-prepared and totally stressed out. I️ am often caught an hour before an event, standing in my closet, asking “why don’t I️ have anything to wear to this?!” The answer, dear and lovely friends, is that I️ spend my time putting others first, leaving little time for self-care, shopping, and feeling put together. While this is something worth working on day-to-day... let’s assume we’re not there yet. What’s a girl to do when she wants to look fab on a dime? Here are 4 holiday outfit ideas you can build RIGHT NOW with items already in your closet!
1. Jewel-tone Sweater
Okay, so Mary is one of those people I️ imagine looks fabulous all the time. Not only is she gorgeous, she is also super stylish. That said, I️ am obsessed with this outfit because it is simple perfection! You may not have a trendy chenille sweater in mustard, but I️ bet you have a cute, cozy, chunky sweater and a black skirt. Dress it up with some layered jewelry (like the ID Necklace!) and a pretty berry lip color for fall, and you’re set. It’s as simple as that! Mary really ups the glam factor with a short, a-line skirt and over the knee boots. She also layered her sweater with a sheer leopard print top. I️ think this look would still work with a maxi skirt and a cute, chunky heel. The possibilities are endless, and best of all, you’ll totally be comfy enough to eat turkey.
2. Maxi Dress Remix
One thing I love about summer is wearing maxi dresses all the time. They're cute, comfy, and easy to wear. Why should summer have all the fun? Bet you have a great maxi dress that gets pushed to the back of the closet about this time of year. This, my friends, is what accessories were invented for. Why not make it more seasonally appropriate with a sweater, a cute clutch, and a dramatic necklace? Wear a great bootie and your look is complete.
3. Jeans and a Nice Top
The old standby is a cliche for a reason. It works for absolutely everything! I don't know about you, but I have a few tops in my closet that don't get worn very often because they're just too nice. One is a sweater with an embellished neckline, and it feels too blingy unless I'm doing something really special. But what's more special than a holiday?? This holiday season, I'm totally wearing my glitzy sweater with a cocktail ring, some great flats, and my favorite jeans. It kind of feels like cheating because it's so simple- but I guess that's the point! I know I'll be comfortable and that I'll feel like myself, and that is so key at holiday events (which can be stressful for an extroverted introvert)! How cute is Ali from Hoots of a Night Al in this floral top? I love how she kept her accessories simple with the Fern Earrings in gold and rose quartz- it's the perfect complement to her gorgeous top. It's all about balance!
4. The Little Black Dress
Do I sound like a broken record talking about LBD's? I own at least 2 at all times. The best part is that depending whether you're dressing to impress or just going to Friendsgiving, there are so many great ways to style this wardrobe staple. Dress it up with sparkly heels, red lipstick, and a necklace, or dress it down with a jean jacket, scarf, and bracelet. There's no wrong way to wear an LBD!
Hope this helps you feel more prepared for the holiday season- I know I always take comfort in knowing that no matter what may happen, I can be confident that I look fabulous, and I feel fabulous too! Comment below with your favorite holiday outfit solution!
